In Beyond the Visible, I bring together ancient ink traditions and modern technology to create a series that feels both familiar and futuristic. Using 3D-printed robots equipped with Chinese brushes, I let go of control, allowing the robots’ unpredictable, three-legged movements to leave spontaneous and raw marks. These marks reflect the imperfections of both art and life—reminding us that beauty often lies in the unexpected.
Once the marks are made, I photograph and curate them, selecting the most compelling to be printed onto circular neon yellow plexiglass using reverse UV technology. The neon yellow introduces a futuristic, sci-fi aesthetic, while the glossy, transparent surfaces lend a contemporary, light-filled quality. I chose the circular form for its harmony and mechanical smoothness, which contrasts with the free, expressive nature of the ink marks.
This series is about more than just the meeting of tradition and innovation. It’s an exploration of how technology can collaborate with human creativity, blurring the lines between control and chance, the handmade and the machine-made.
Through Beyond the Visible, I invite you to see art—and perhaps even life—from a fresh perspective. It’s about finding beauty in the interplay between chaos and order, past and present, and the unexpected connections that emerge in between.
