The process begins with a 3D-printed robot, operated remotely by me, as it creates marks in Chinese ink. I capture these gestures through the lens of my mobile phone, transform them into a halftone effect, and then subject them to a glitch program, introducing a layer of digital randomness. In creating this work, I find myself questioning whether the robot’s mark-making truly diverges from that of a human hand. A machine without a heartbeat... This contrast compels me to explore deeper questions about the nature of life itself—what it means to be alive, and where the boundary between the artificial and the authentic truly lies. This exploration of analog versus digital, from the creation of the marks to their transformation through photography, halftoning, and glitching, serves as a meditation on the blurred boundaries between artificiality and authenticity. As I navigate this terrain, I confront and challenge the essence of artistic expression in an age increasingly dominated by machines.
